The storm of the year happened Thursday, August 20, 2009 starting just before 7pm and ending around 7:45pm. With torrential downpours in Bracebridge and an F0 Tornado hitting the south end of Gravenhurst, TCR was up all night. The first call came in at about 7:25 pm for flooding in Bracebridge. The next call came in at 7:32pm for another flood in Bracebridge and for the next 4 hours calls just kept coming in. Field staff worked until almost 4:00am extracting water, setting up air movers, dehumidifiers and scrubbers. August 21; Friday morning was much the same but with wind and tree damage claims coming in. Claims averaged about 1 every 20 minutes that day; estimators, field staff and our sub contractors worked well into the evening again assessing damages and performing any emergencies that were required.

And Saturday August 22, it happened all over again! Although the claims were coming in much slower there was still plenty of work to do; roofs were patched, windows were boarded, hydro masts repaired, water extracted, equipment set up. By Sunday our staff was able to have a break. Emergencies were completed and home owners were temporarily secure in their homes and happy. Come Monday August 24, morning our staff was busy again, with preparing estimates for repairs and from a few more calls coming in from home owners who were away for the storm but came home to discover water in their basement or a tree on their roof.

Winter Storm Damage - Click to View More Photos

For December of 2009 Muskoka received one of the worst winter storms. Starting December 10 and ending December 12. High winds and snow squalls left many people stuck in their homes as travelling was not recommended, highways were closed, many businesses were shut down and power outages were reported across Muskoka. Snow accumulated close to 95 centimeters throughout Muskoka, but hitting Bracebridge and Huntsville the hardest. Due to such the rapid rate of snow and heavy winds…trees were coming down, landing on homes, sheds and garages. TCR was first to many sites once roads were clear and safe for travelling. Trees were taken down, and the homes were secured once again.

It is TCR job to help families in situations like these and to get them back to a point where they are comfortable in their home. TCR is able do this with the technology, expertise and great staff employed and nothing is more rewarding to them than to be able to do so in an efficient and professional way.
